Introduction to Local Government

This program is for new, or recently appointed staff in local government. It provides them with a clearer understanding about the role of local government within the federal system, financial arrangements, challenges, governance issues for employees including managing relationships, the role of Councillors, ethical behaviour and practices, legal obligations, local democracy and community engagement. At least ten single day sessions (face to face or online) are held both in Melbourne and regional areas over a calendar year providing providing a sponsor broad exposure across the sector.

Delegate profile
This program attracts participants who are both new to local government at all levels (directors, managers, team leaders and officers) and those wanting to refresh their knowledge of the sector they are working in. Participants are from councils across Victoria working across all disciplines.
